Has devoted much of his career to the defense of medical malpractice claims at both the trial and appellate levels. Mr. Leak is a Board-Certified Specialist in Appellate Law and has a comprehensive appellate practice. He is also Board-Certified in Appellate Law by the Ohio State Bar Association.  He has briefed and argued cases in the Ohio Supreme Court, the Sixth Circuit Court of Appeals, and most of the Ohio appellate districts. Mr. Leak was lead appellate counsel in several of the seminal Ohio medical malpractice decisions. Mr. Leak frequently lectures to physicians, lawyers, and law students on appellate issues and recent developments in appellate law. Mr. Leak has also written numerous articles on legal issues of several kinds, including appellate law. Mr. Leak has been the legal advisor for Mentor High School’s Mock Trial since 2014. He coaches the Mock Trial team for state competitions and also advises students who are interested in pursuing an education and/or career in the legal field. He has also achieved an AV Preeminent rating (the highest possible) from Martindale-Hubbell. He has been named to The Best Lawyers in America since 2012 for Medical Malpractice Law and selected as an Ohio Super Lawyer for the past fourteen years.
